The laws may go one way, but there is always hope

Chances are you have seen a video going around of activists having a lunch meeting with an official from Planned Parenthood in the United States. In the video they discuss, in graphic detail, of how to abort a fetus so as to best obtain its organs for medical research, and for profit.

It is more than disturbing, and the only reason I share this, is because up until about two years ago, I had no idea what the abortion laws in Canada were.

For nine months, I had the privilege of working with a national ministry called CAPSS, Canadian Association of Pregnancy Support Services. This ministry is an affiliate organization that partners with approximately 80 pregnancy centres across Canada and helps to equip, encourage, and establish new centres in much needed areas. The people on the front lines of pregnancy care ministry also need support and encouragement!

Though I only worked with them for a short time, I was continuously amazed as I heard stories flood in from pregnancy centres of the people they were reaching. Many of the women didn’t even realize the alternatives they had other than an abortion to unexpected pregnancies. There were also women who would come in for post-abortion counselling, who were dealing with the trauma of their choices. But at least they had someone to turn to for help in healing.

I learned that 3 million abortions have taken place in Canada alone, since 1969, when the Supreme Court decriminalized abortion. In 1988, the Court struck down Canada’s abortion law, leaving our country with no governing legislation on abortion ever since. A 15-year-old girl has to get a note from her parents to go on a field trip, but she does not need a note from to go get an abortion at a local clinic. We are the only nation in the western civilization without governing laws, putting us in the same league as China and North Korea.

As soon as we remove God’s laws and love from our governing structure and take things into our own hands, we will pay the price as a nation. It’s just a matter of time.

Since I never knew the laws of our country regarding abortion, I wondered if you did? If you would like to support the work of CAPSS in Canada, visit their website and scroll to the right sidebar where you can donate today!

We are NEVER without hope.
